the PlayStation. It is widely considered to be one
of the greatest
and most important games of all time, and is herald
ed as the
game that made the stealth genre popular. It is the
third
canonical title released in the Metal Gear series,
being a direct
sequel to Metal Gear and Metal Gear 2: Solid Snake.
REX was the ultimate Metal Gear, as it was not only
capable of
delivering a nuclear weapon both to and from any po
int on the
globe, it could do so "undetectably" and "untraceab
ly." All previous
Metal Gears were merely mobile ground-based launch
systems for
nuclear missiles, little more than the land-based e
quivalent of
ballistic missile submarines. REX utilized a rail g
un, which fired much
smaller projectiles without chemical propellants an
d contained
stealth technology – factors which made them virtual
ly invisible to
radar. It thus fatally undermined the 'no first str
ike' principle of
Mutually Assured Destruction – whoever controlled it
could launch
a nuclear attack at any target at any time, with no
warning before
impact. In addition, its missiles also have enough
power to destroy
underground bunkers, a lesson that was learned from
the Gulf War

From Threezero. The first release in Threezero's 1/6 scale RoboCop collectible line featuring characters and robots from Metro-Goldwyn-Mayer & Columbia Pictures' 2014 motion picture is EM-208, the military enforcement droid created by OmniCorp to maintain and restore order. This figure stands 12" tall and is fully articulated - including the articulated pistols that can be extended from its arms to replicate their use in the film - with a realistic, weathered metallic paint application and an LED light-up feature on its visor. ED-209 was molded by Tippett Studio from original masters and from an actual screen used puppet. It comes on a detailed OCP logo base with display plaque signed by Phil Tippett.
