MLB Masahiro Tanaka New York Yankees Sportspicks McFarlane

This past MLB off-season has shown us one thing to be true; the freewheeling, big spending New York Yankees are back! The team's acquisitions was a "who's who" of past All Stars and Gold Glove Winners. Their biggest splash may have been a player who has yet to participate in a regular season MLB game and that would be Japanese pitching sensation Masahiro Tanaka.

On January 22, 2014 the 25 year old right hander signed a 7 year contract to become a member of the Yankees pitching rotation. His last season in the Nippon Professional Baseball (NPB) league was nothing short of sensational. Tanaka finished the season with a 24-0 record, a 1.27 ERA, and secured his second Sawamura Award, given to the top pitcher in the NPB. If his past is any indication, the future of Tanaka and the Yankees, is bright!
