Sideshow and Enesco present the Disney Showcase Anna Maquette!

The Walt Disney Archives collection celebrates the rich history and majestic artistry of the Walt Disney Company, revisiting seldom seen original treasures, from animation maquettes to archival stationery. Established in 1938, the Character Model Department at Walt Disney Studios employed sculptors to create three-dimensional figures known as maquettes. These animator models would expose crucial angles, reveal the play of light and shadow, and clarify issues of perspective, allowing artists to study each character in a brand new way.

This limited-edition, hand-painted sculpture is derived from one of those maquettes. Production molds were made from a digital 3D scan of the original animator model. The original was unpainted and did not include Anna's signature cape. For this reproduction, a sculpted cape was added under the supervision of “Frozen” art director, Michael Giaimo. Who said, "The exuberant and playful characteristics of Anna suggested a winter outfit of bold proportions. It was imperative that her costume be as iconic as the character herself. her rich saturated cobalt blue dress, black bodice and striking magenta cape underscores not only the character's strength, but also stands in beautiful counterpoint against the snowscape environments of the film. Certificate of verification and storycard are included.

Artist Statement: I have always loved the design and colors of SNEAKERS. The bright colors and intricate designs are the same reasons why I love COMIC BOOKS/SUPER HEROES. Also, there is always the story behind a certain Super Hero. Their SECRET ORIGIN. The amazing story of how a character got his/her powers. Or the incredible circumstances that caused a character to become a Super Hero. Most sneakers also have their own “Secret Origin”. The process that it took a designer to get to the final look of a sneaker. What inspired the look of a shoe. What influenced the use of certain materials or colors. So many things in common that I always felt needed to be explored.

These vinyl figures are what I call S.H.S. aka Super Heroes in Sneakers- two things that meant a lot to me growing up and still do to this day. Two completely different cultures mashed together to create a new visual of things most people wouldn’t normally see together. I always wondered what kicks my favorite Super Hero would wear. That’s why I would create these illustrations and now DESIGNER COLLECTIBLE TOYS!

So, I designed this art figure in a stance that shows his readiness to STRIKE. BRUCE needed Sneakers that could support his NINJA moves. So I gave him Sneakers that are LOW to the ground and LIGHT enough, so as to not slow him down. Sneakers that are meant for a HERO with the MENTALITY to never quit!
