Features:
- Fully detailed 1/144 Bell X-15A-2
- Stylish metal stand included
- Historically accurate markings
- Pre-assembled
The experimental X-15 built by North American Aviation was an astonishing craft. As both an aircraft and a spaceplane, it set speed and altitude records at the edge of outer space in the 1960s. Such was its performance envelope that some pilots could also hold claim to being astronauts. Three X-15 aircraft were manufactured and test-flown 199 times, thus producing invaluable data that would help future aircraft and space programs. The second X-15A aircraft to be manufactured (serial number 56-6671) was rebuilt after a landing accident, and during this process its length was extended by 730mm. Renamed X-15A-2, it also featured a pair of auxiliary fuel tanks mounted under the fuselage, plus heat-resistant surfaces. It first flew on 28 June 1964, with this hypersonic craft creating the record for the fastest ever manned rocket-powered aircraft with a speed of Mach 6.32 (a staggering 7,274km/h). X-15A-2 remains on display at the National Museum of the US Air Force near Dayton, Ohio.
Dragon Warbirds is offering an X-15A-2 model made to 1/144 scale. The model depicts the craft as it appeared at its rollout ceremony shortly before performing its record-breaking flight. The die-cast model captures perfectly the cylindrical form of the X-15 with its thick dorsal and ventral stabilizers, plus the new auxiliary fuel tanks are molded in place. This item has quite a distinct difference in appearance compared to the previous X-15A in Dragon’s X-plane series, including the specific markings applied accurately to the aircraft. This X-15A-2 is sure to send collectors soaring into the stratosphere of pleasure!

During WWII, the North African Campaign saw Allied and Axis momentum swing backwards and forwards across the desert sands of Libya, Tunisia and Egypt. After the heavy defeat of Italian troops, Germany dispatched its newly formed Deutsches Afrikakorps (DAK) to push back Allied forces in Operation Sonnenblume (“Sunflower”). The first expeditionary DAK troops arrived in Libya in February-March 1941, and they were quickly marshaled and sent into action by the legendary General Erwin Rommel. By mid-April he had successfully pushed the British out of Libya, except for the besieged enclave of Tobruk. In 1941, Rommel’s first offensive continued to push Allied units all the way back to the Egyptian border. Dragon’s latest 1/35 scale figure set features four DAK soldiers from this early period of the Desert War.
The set is broken down into two groupings – one pair of figures represents panzer crewmen while the remaining duo is part of an artillery crew. Modelers will immediately recognize the utility of this collection. The tankers in summer clothing can be matched with any of the DAK tanks in Dragon’s range (the Panzer III Ausf.H, for example), while the artillery crew would be a perfect match for Dragon's 15cm s.FH.18 howitzer. The four 1/35 German soldiers are sharply molded and their uniforms and personal equipment are accurately depicted. Notably, the artillerymen are warmly wrapped up in greatcoats for the chilly Libyan nights. As part of a desert diorama or vignette, these versatile DAK figures from Dragon are the ideal accessory.

The military vehicle known in official US nomenclature as Truck, 1/4 Ton, 4x4, is probably the world’s most famous design in its class. This iconic WWII vehicle was produced from 1941-45, with more than 634,000 rolling off American production lines. They faithfully served not only the US military, but also allies like the UK, France and Russia. These small 4x4 vehicles were employed in numerous battlefield tasks, with one role being that of reconnaissance and scouting. Some vehicles involved in such missions were fitted with steel plates to better protect the occupants, and early efforts soon led to the fitting of specially designed armor kits. The 82nd Airborne Division, for example, was one unit that created a standardized armor kit. Such recce vehicles were also armed with machine guns.
Dragon has produced an exciting 1/35 scale kit of a 1/4-Ton Armored 4x4 Truck. The vehicle features a solid one-piece body tub that ensures accurate assembly and alignment. Under the hood is an extremely realistic-looking engine that assembles from multiple parts and it can be shown off if the modeler chooses to model the hood up. The vehicle is ready for reconnaissance tasks with a set of armor plates rendered in photo-etched metal to give a true-to-scale appearance. Other photo-etched components provide finer details such as tool mounting brackets, hood retainers and various straps. For self-defense, the vehicle also carries a .50-cal machine gun on a pintle mount. All in all, this is one extremely effective reconnaissance vehicle!

Dragon’s scintillating 1/72 scale kit of the Sd.Kfz.232 (Item No.7429) was enthusiastically greeted by modelers. Now Dragon is expanding the family with a brand new kit of the Sd.Kfz.263 built to an identical scale. The Sd.Kfz.263 was part of Germany’s successful 8-Rad (“eight-wheel”) schwerer Panzerspahwagen (“heavy armored reconnaissance vehicle”) family. The 9.1-tonne Sd.Kfz.263 was designated a Funkspähwagen, a radio car, and as such it accommodated extra long-range radio equipment inside the fixed superstructure. It was used by reconnaissance units and had a top road speed of 85km/h. As well as a telescopic antenna, a large frame antenna was fitted above the superstructure to aid communications with headquarters and to help coordinate fighting units. Unlike the Sd.Kfz.232 on which it was based and that was armed with a 20mm cannon, this vehicle’s only armament was a 7.92mm MG34 machine gun. It operated with a crew of five, including two dedicated radio operators. Only 240 Sd.Kfz.263 vehicles were produced, but one of its most famous users was Erwin Rommel.
Dragon has produced a brand new tooling for the upper hull of this 1/72 scale plastic kit. The complex item with multi-faceted plates is made as a single piece thanks to the employment of CAD drawings and high-tech slide-molding techniques. This ensures that modelers have an accurate and easy-to-assemble hull on which to base their miniature masterpiece. The Sd.Kfz.263 model also features a new one-piece frame antenna that is finely produced in scale. The unique shape of this 8x8 armored vehicle is beautifully captured, allowing modelers to operate Dragon’s Sd.Kfz.263 and Sd.Kfz.232 in tandem at the forefront of an early-war advanced reconnaissance unit!

Apollo 11 is probably the most famous space mission of all time, this historic spaceflight first putting man on the Moon more than half a century ago. The event occurred on 20 July 1969 as millions of TV viewers around the world watched with bated breath. The Lunar Module (LM) known as Eagle safely landed on lunar soil for the first time. In the meantime, the Command/Service Module (CSM) was orbiting the Moon high above aboard. The CSM was named Columbia after Columbiad, the giant cannon-shell craft that was fired to the Moon in Jules Verne’s novel “From the Earth to the Moon”. After the Moon landing, Eagle’s ascent stage successfully docked with the CSM before the crew began their return voyage to Earth.
Dragon’s Space Collection is now proud to offer a 1/48 scale plastic kit of the complete CSM, and it comes hot on the heels of an earlier release of a fully built-up and finished version. This large scale permits a stunning level of detail to be incorporated on the Apollo 11 module. The craft’s sharply molded in plastic and it also features additional items such as photo-etched radar antennas to give a touch of refinement. The CSM comes with accurate markings and logos on an accompanying set of decals. Thanks to the sleek metal display stand, the model can be readily displayed to full effect on a desktop. Space modelers are bound to be over the moon with the launch of this new 1/48 scale Apollo 11 CSM kit!

The Sturmgeschütz IV (also known as Sd.Kfz.167) was an assault gun produced in the fashion of the StuG.III. However, as its name suggests, it was based on the hull of the ubiquitous Panzer IV tank rather than the Panzer III. This came about because Alkett (a manufacturer of the StuG.III) was bombed in November 1943, so in an effort to increase assault gun production, Krupp installed slightly modified StuG.III superstructures on the chassis of the Panzer IV. After production was approved on 6 December 1943, Krupp proceeded to build 1,108 StuG.IV vehicles between December 1943 and May 1945. While this number was far less than the StuG.III, Krupp did ensure continuity of assault gun production. Crewed by four men, it proved to be an effective tank hunter platform. The StuG.IV weighed 23 tonnes and it was armed with a 7.5cm StuK40 L/48 gun. The main armament was supplemented by an MG34 mounted on the superstructure roof.
Dragon has already introduced 1/35 scale plastic Smart Kits depicting Early Production variants of this tank destroyer. Now comes the much anticipated Late Production type. It is accurately tooled and detailed with correct characteristics such as a new lower hull that fits the simplified idler mount, brand new Magic Track, a new roof armor and traveling lock. Other components are borrowed from Dragon’s previous Panzer/StuG kits. These include the highly detailed 7.5cm StuK40 gun with its breech and mount, separate metal armor skirt plates, late-style exhaust mufflers plus convenient Magic Tracks. This kit is a fine combination of engineering quality and time-saving convenience!

1/700 H.M.S. Invincible Light Aircraft Carrier - Falklands War 30th Anniversary :
Features:
- Superstructure realistically reproduced
- Finely scaled radar produced in photo-etched parts
- Photo-etched railings are authentically produced
- Intricate photo-etched railings on flight deck
This year marks the 30th anniversary of the Falklands War that was waged between Argentina and the United Kingdom. The Royal Navy (RN) played a pivotal role in recapturing the South Atlantic islands, and one important element of the naval task force sent to perform this mission was HMS Invincible (R05). Invincible was the lead ship in a class of three light aircraft carriers. She was commissioned on 11 July 1980, just two years before the Falklands conflict broke out. In actual fact, after an agreement reached in February 1982, she was earmarked for sale to the Royal Australian Navy for the price of £175 million. Instead, just three days after Argentina invaded the Falkland Islands on 2 April 1982, she was steaming alongside the carrier Hermes towards the South Atlantic. Her bulging complement of aircraft included eight Sea Harriers and twelve Sea King helicopters that would take off and land on her 170m-long ski jump deck in continuous operations against Argentine forces. Invincible and her embarked aircraft played an important role in recapturing the islands.
Dragon is pleased to inform ship-loving modelers that a fine 1/700 scale model of this famous British light carrier is now available again. A kit of HMS Invincible was previously released a number of years ago, but Dragon’s engineers have overhauled it and brought it up to date in time for this anniversary year. The special bonuses for 2012 are a set of completely new photo-etched parts, as well as new Cartograf decals. The 22,000-ton HMS Invincible was never sold to Australia, and it later served in operations in the Balkans and against Iraq, before she was eventually decommissioned in 2005. Now, however, modelers can get their hands on this special 30th anniversary edition of the famous carrier. In terms of detail and accuracy, this kit is invincible!

1/700 H.M.S. Sheffield Type 42 Destroyer Batch 1 - Falklands War 30th Anniversary (2 in 1) :
Features:
- Photo-etched handrails add extra refinement
- Optional photo-etched rotor blades for on-board helicopter
- Antenna and radar reproduced with photo-etched parts
- 4.5-inch L/45 Vickers Mark 8 gun
It is exactly 30 years since the Falklands War broke out between Argentina and the United Kingdom, a conflict initiated by the Argentine invasion of the South Atlantic islands. To counter the occupation, the Royal Navy (RN) dispatched a naval task force and one of its members was the Type 42 guided-missile destroyer HMS Sheffield (D80). A total of 14 Type 42 vessels were built for the RN, and ironically, two were also constructed for the Argentinian Navy. Commissioned on 16 February 1975, HMS Sheffield was the first of class, and it is best known as being one of the ships sunk during the Falklands War. Sheffield’s demise came about on 4 May 1982 when she was struck amidships by an AM39 Exocet sea-skimming anti-ship missile. Caught totally off-guard by the attack, the Exocet had been launched more than 30km away from a Super Etendard aircraft from the Argentine Navy. Even though the missile failed to detonate, its impact holed the hull and severed fire mains, which meant the crew could not extinguish the resulting fires. HMS Sheffield eventually foundered on 10 May and 20 crewmen lost their lives.
In Dragon’s series of models commemorating the Falklands War, the next subject to be released is a 1/700 scale kit of HMS Sheffield. This Type 42 guided-missile destroyer kit appeared in Dragon’s range some time ago, but it has been specially updated for this special edition. As a bonus, the kit offers a set of new photo-etched components that elevate this kit to a whole new level of finesse and detail. It also features newly created Cartograf decals. Significantly, Sheffield was the first RN vessel sunk in action since WWII, and this release from Dragon commemorates her contribution to this short but intense conflict of 1982.

The T-34, the mainstay tank of the Red Army during WWII, has been described as the most important weapon that helped Russia win the war in the East. It was the most widely produced tank of the war, and as can be expected, a number of variants evolved throughout its lifetime. Dragon has chosen one of its important incarnations as the canvas for its next 1/35 scale plastic kit. The item is a T-34/76 Model 1943 tank built by Factory No.112 in Gorky, a facility also known as Krasnoye Sormovo. This T-34 type featured a 76mm cannon in a hexagonal-shaped turret. The two-man cast turret possessed distinctive soft edges, and it comprised three main pieces – the walls, roof and ring. It was on this turret that a cupola for the commander was finally incorporated in the summer of 1943.
Dragon has done a fine job of replicating in 1/35 scale the characteristics peculiar to this type. The soft-edged turret is a particular feature of the kit, and its cast texture is amazingly realistic. The turret, which comes from completely new toolings, is fitted with the correct cupola for the commander’s use.
This model is simply bulging with detail, and there are photo-etched parts to represent fine elements such as the engine deck grills and louvers that cannot be accurately portrayed in plastic. The original tank operated on rubber-tired road wheels that have been newly tooled just for this kit, and the tank’s also shod in Magic Tracks that assemble quickly and easily. This is an exciting rendition of the T-34/76 Mod.1943 from Gorky!

By 1944 the tide of war had truly turned and Germany found itself retreating on every front. Its forces, already depleted by five years of grueling combat, were being pushed further and further back towards the borders of the Third Reich. By 1945, the frontiers of the Fatherland itself were being breached by Allied units in both the east and west. The latest inspirational 1/35 scale figure set from Dragon depicts four German soldiers tasked with defending the country in the 1944-45 period.
The quartet is notable in the variety of uniforms, accoutrements and weapons that they possess. No longer were they wearing the orderly and well-tailored field gray uniforms of the blitzkrieg period. Instead, the soldiers in this set here wear camouflage smocks, a Fallschirmjäger jumpsuit and even one in a special Hitler Jugend (“Hitler Youth”) winter uniform. Their collection of weapons also reflects the frenetic late-war period. In evidence there’s an MP 44 assault rifle, Kar 98k rifle, Gewehr 43 semi-automatic rifle and FG 42 rifle as used by elite paratroopers. The HJ member is also carrying a Panzerfaust 100m, a single-shot anti-tank rocket produced in quantity from September 1944 onwards. These varied figures offer unlimited utility for creators of dioramas and vignettes. Sharply sculpted in realistic poses, these well-researched figures reflect the desperate final months of WWII.

1/72 Apollo 12 "Lunar Landing" , CSM + Lunar Module "Interpid" + Surveyor 3 + Astronauts
Features:
- 1/72 true-to-scale precision model
- Displayable spacecraft with high collectable value
- Aesthetically pleasing color finish with delicate imprinted markings
Apollo 11 is clearly the most famous mission of the whole Apollo program that put man on the Moon, this momentous event occurring on 20 July 1969. The mission four months afterwards, Apollo 12, was the second manned flight to the lunar surface. Blasting off from the Kennedy Space Center in Florida, the Lunar Module (LM) containing the astronauts Charles Conrad and Alan Bean landed on a site at 3.01239° S latitude, 23.42157° W longitude, on 19 November 1969. The LM, which was christened Intrepid, touched down with pinpoint accuracy just 160m from the unmanned Surveyor 3 probe that had been sitting on the Moon’s surface for the past 31 months. They spent more than 30 hours on the Moon performing scientific tasks such as collecting rock samples and measuring the Moon’s seismic activity, magnetic field and solar wind flux. Samples from the unmanned Surveyor 3 probe were collected, this being the only occasion that humans have ever recovered a probe sent to another world.
Dragon’s newest model in its exciting Space Collection represents the Apollo 12 mission. Indeed, a stunning diorama scene is created in 1/72 scale. The set includes the Intrepid LM on a simulated Ocean of Storms lunar surface alongside the Surveyor 3 probe. The open hatch allows viewers a glimpse of the cramped spacecraft interior. Furthermore, the model comes with two astronaut figures, recovering elements from Surveyor 3. The set also features the orbiting Command/Service Module (CSM) Yankee Clipper that’s displayed on an integral stand. This fine 1/72 scale set enables collectors to own an instant diorama of this scientifically important Apollo 12 mission.

NASA's Mercury program was a series of manned spaceflights in the important buildup to putting man on the Moon. Spacecraft "Liberty Bell 7" flew 480km at a maximum altitude of 190km and maximum speed of 1,969m/s. The naming is because of the shape of the craft, as well as an association with the original Liberty Bell. Indeed, a "crack" was painted onto the side of the craft to add to the illusion. Of interest, the 1,286kg Liberty Bell 7 was the first Mercury craft with a centerline trapezoid-shaped window instead of two portholes.
Another innovation with this spacecraft was an explosive hatch release that allowed a rapid emergency escape. After performing its flight, Liberty Bell 7 splashed down in the ocean, although the craft subsequently sank to the bottom before it could be retrieved by helicopter. As a fitting final note, the Mercury spacecraft was salvaged 38 years later in 1999.

1/400 Space Shuttle "Atlantis" w/SRB STS-71 - Memorable Missions of Space Shuttle (Space)
Features:
- Highly detailed
- True to 1/400
- Highly collectible
- High quality diecast construction
- New stand for vertical display
NASA’s Space Shuttle fleet consisted of six craft, and the fourth operational spacecraft was Atlantis (OV-104). In fact, it was manufactured in approximately half the time needed to produce Columbia (the first Space Shuttle to fly into space), plus it was some 3.5 tons lighter. This Space Shuttle built by Rockwell International was delivered to NASA in 1985 and it undertook its maiden flight into space in October the same year. One of its most notable missions (STS-71) commenced on 27 June 1995, when the spacecraft blasted off from the Kennedy Space Center, docking to the Russian Mir Space Station.
The 80-ton Atlantis was the final Space Shuttle to fly, its last mission blasting off on 8 July 2011 before it joined the rest of the fleet in retirement. Atlantis had orbited the Earth a staggering 4,848 times and traveled some 126 million miles by the time of its well-earned retirement. However, STS-71 remains one of the most enduring milestones of the craft’s career. Collectors can celebrate Atlantis’ legacy with a fine 1/400 scale model from Dragon Wings. In remarkable and accurate detail, the model represents Atlantis as it appeared on this important mission.
