Iceman Comiquette Polystone Statue by Sideshow Collectibles
Sideshow Collectibles is proud to introduce the newest addition to our Marvel statue line-up, Iceman. The X-men's youngest founding member is presented in approximately 1:5 scale, and is hand finished and painted to exacting standards, each with its own unique quality and detail that is the trademark of a handcrafted Sideshow Collectibles product. Standing approximately 18 inches tall the Iceman Comiquette is a dynamic representation of the subzero mutant, a stunning addition to any Marvel collection.
Young Bobby Drake came to the attention of Professor X when his power to create ice, or rather to encase a threatening bully in ice, caused a mob of his town people to call for him to be hanged. Rescued by Cyclops and Professor X's mental powers, Bobby gratefully accepts Xavier's invitation to enroll at The School for Gifted Youngsters and join the X-men team. Hated and feared by humanity, the X-men honed their amazing abilities while standing in defense of a world pushed to the brink of genetic war by a handful of mutant terrorists. Iceman, the team's youngest founding member became known as the comedian of the group, but also pulled his weight and worked well with the team.
Two new members join the X-men team, magnetism-manipulating Polaris and plasma-charged Havok. Following a brief romantic relationship between Polaris, Bobby quits the team, to sort out his unrequited feelings for Polaris, and the tension caused by her love for Havok. After Krakoa takes Bobby and the team hostage a second team of X-men is formed to rescue them, once freed most of the founding members disband and he returns to college full time. Though he continues to help his teammates whenever possible, joining Angel in the formation of the Champions of Los Angeles, assisting Professor X in rescuing friends and family of the X-men from the assassin known as Arcade, working with Beast to create the loose-knit collection of heroes knows as the Defenders, and later X-Factor.
When Bobby confronts former Cosmonaut Mikhail Rasputin, he forces Bobby into a form composed entirely of ice, affording the young mutant a glimpse into his true nature. Months later, the physically incapacitated mutant telepath Emma Frost took mental possession of Bobby's body. Frost was able to activate the full extent of his powers, using them in ways Bobby had not thought possible. Over the course of these and other experiences and with the support of the X-men, he has learned to explore and embrace the full potential of his power and evolution of his abilities.
