DC-3 TWA 1/72 Scale Model KDC3TWAT by Toys & Models

"DC-3 is generally considered as the most famous airliners and it earned the title of ""The only replacement for a DC-3 is another DC-3."" On July 1, 1933, the DC-1 made its first successful flight. TWA evaluated the DC-1 and additional requirements resulted a fourteen-seat DC-2 with a more powerful engine. The DC-2's maiden flight was on May 11, 1934. There were 108 DC-2s produced. In 1934, it set a record of a coast-to-coast time of 13 hrs and 4 min. In the mid-1930s, the DC-3 incorporates all of the technological advances, a reliable, high-power air-cooled piston enignes, a variable-pitch metal propellers, a retractable landing gear, a duraluminum-alloy fuselage and wings and the electronic autopilot. It laso incorporates two 1,200-horsepower Pratt and Whitney engines and it cruised at a remarkable 145 knots at altitudes of up to 10,000 feet. It could carry at least twenty one passengers. The DC's maiden flight was on December 17, 1935, which was the 32nd anniversary of the Wright Brother's first slight. The DC-3 was designated by many names, infact, all are considered their official names; its manufacturer called it the ""Skytrain"" and airlines simply called i the ""Three""; the US Army called it the ""C-47""; the US Navy called it the ""R4D"" and was designated as ""Dakota"" by the British. It was referred by many pilots and was fondly called as the ""Gooney Bird."" It was considered to be one of the four most significant weapons of the War."

DC-3 United 1/72 Scale Model KDC3UAT Toys & Models PP11SS025 RG

"The DC-3, the classic airliner, and American Airlines that ordered it, are responsible for the spectacular growth of air travel. The DC-3 is a superior aircraft and its introduction by American Airlines marked the new beginning of a new era in passenger aviation. In November 1936, the United Airlines, a subsidiary of Boeing, became the second DC-3 customer. Initial orders from American and United Airlines were soon followed by other orders from 30 airlines in the next two years. The DC-3 is universally known as one of the greatest airplanes of all time. The DC-3 is not only comfortable and reliable but it also made air transportation profitable. It also has proven to be tough, flexible and easy to operate and maintain. Currently, hundreds of DC-3s are still operational and in flying condition. "

C-990 American 1/100 Scale Model KC990AAT by Toys & Models

"The Convair 990 Coronado is a jet airliner manufactured by Convair. In 1961, the first 990 Coronado entered production. The 990 was considered the fastest passenger jet since it was built with a speed of about Mach 0.91. There were original plans to use the bulges of the 990 Coronados as fuel tanks. In 1963, there were only 37 990s produced. The 990 Coronado has a crew of three and has a seating capacity of 96 to 121 passengers. It has a maximum speed of 534 knots and a range of 4,700 nm. The primary user of the 990 Coronado was the American Airlines. There were several 990s which survived. A former Swissair Convair is currently on display at the Swiss transportation museum in Verkehrshaus, Luzem, while two 990s are owned by the Mojave Spaceport. Of these, one 990 is on display at the airport's entrance and the other is used for movie and television filming projects "

Cessna Citation X House Scheme 1/40 Scale Model KCC10 by Toys & Models

Cessna Citation X House Scheme 1/40 Scale Model KCC10 by Toys & Models

"The Cessna Citation X is currently the fastest business jet and flying civilian airplane in the world with a traveling speed of up to 605 mph. In October 1990, the National Business Aviation Association Convention in New Orleans announced the development of the Citation X. The certification of the Cessna Citation X was delayed several times. The main reasons for the delays were the avionics and the engine integration failure to the aircraft, the engines also didn't pass the bird strike criteria and directional stability challenges. The certification was finally approved on June 3, 1996. In June 1996, the first Citation X was delivered to Arnold Palmer, a golfer and avid Cessna customer. The Citation X continued to set speed records. In January 1, 2002, all Citation X underwent upgrade and the main characteristics of the upgraded version are a 5% increase in thrust, a 400 lbs increase in maximum take-off weight and improved Honeywell avionics. The Citation X incorporates a number of innovative design features; large diameter of the engine intakes, reduced noise from the engines and improved fuel efficiency. The Citation X was also the first aircraft from Cessna to use a Rolls-Royce engine and fully-integrated avionics. Despite Cessna's long history of building business jets and the number of aircraft in the Citation family, the Citation X was a completely new design, not a derivative of earlier Citations. The Cessna Citation X is currently the fastest civilian aircraft being flown, though the Concorde and Tupolev Tu-144 were both faster, but they are no longer in service "

Cessna Citation X 1/40 Scale Model KCCC10TR by Toys & Models

Cessna Citation X 1/40 Scale Model KCCC10TR by Toys & Models

"The Cessna Citation X is a medium-sized business jet aircraft built by the Cessna Aircraft Company in Wichita, Kansas. The “X” stands for the Roman numeral for 10 and not the letter. Powered by two Rolls-Royce turbofan engines, it is the world's fastest operating passenger jet. This seven-person private plane can climb to 43,000 feet in just 30 minutes. It is equipped with an entertainment center and a vanity area for passengers. Despite Cessna's long history of building business jets, the Citation X was a completely new aircraft in many ways. Its wing, tail, tail cone, gear and systems were designed from scratch, not based on pre-existing airplane. It was the first aircraft to use a Rolls-Royce engine and fully-integrated avionics. It also incorporates a number of innovative design features. The large diameter of the engine intakes reduces the noise from the engines and improves fuel efficiency. The highly swept wing with a supercritical airfoil increases the Mach number. The horizontal and vertical stabilizers are highly swept as well and are arranged in a T-tail configuration. The Citation X is equipped with controls that are powered by dual-hydraulic systems for redundancy. Cessna announced that it was developing the Citation X at the National Business Aviation Association Convention in New Orleans in October 1990. The prototype was publicly rolled out in September 1993 and flew for the first time on December 21 of the same year. The first customer delivery was in June 1996, to golfer and long-time Cessna customer Arnold Palmer. Once in use, the aircraft continued to set speed records. Arnold Palmer set one in September 1997, flying 473 knots on a 5,000 km closed course. In February 1997, the Citation X design team was awarded the National Aeronautic Association's prestigious Robert J. Collier Trophy. The 2,500th aircraft was delivered on September 10, 1997. "

Cessna Citation Mustang 1/40 Scale Model KCCM by Toys & Models

Cessna Citation Mustang 1/40 Scale Model KCCM by Toys & Models

"The Cessna Citation Mustang is a business jet built by Cessna Aircraft Company at their Kansas production facility. It was a light business jet, hence it was commonly referred to as a very light jet (VLJ). The Mustang, like any other small business jet, is certified to fly without a co-pilot. The Mustang was first flown on April 23, 2005. On September 8, 2006, Mustang received full type certification from the Federal Aviation Administration. In fact, the Mustang was the first of its class to receive full type certification, first to receive certification to fly into known-icing conditions, the first VLJ to be delivered to a customer, thus, making Cessna the world's first fully certified, new-generation entry level business jet. The Mustang features a wide passenger door and a large eye-level window for natural ambiance and externally accessed luggage space in the front and rear cabin. The Mustang is powered by two Pratt and Whitney Canada PW615F engines with dual FADECs for efficient fuel consumption. The Mustang has a top speed of 340 kn and a range of 1,150 nautical miles and a service ceiling of 41,000 feet which is well suited for getting above weather and commercial traffic for more efficient operations. Cessna Citation Mustang's sales have climbed to 250 units, with the majority coming from international customers, selling out production well into 2009. Cessna plans to enhance its sales and marketing efforts by increasing its domestic and international sales force, conducting intensive demonstration tours with multiple aircraft on a worldwide basis and stepping up its marketing campaign in response to the very high level of interest in the Citation Mustang expressed by customers globally. "The A-36 Bonanza Beechcraft model is a general aviation aircraft introduced in 1947 by the Beech Aircraft Corporation. As of 2007, it is still being produced by Hawker Beechcraft. There are more than 17,000 Bonanzas that have been built. The A-36 Bonanza Beechcraft model was designed by a team led by Ralph Harmon. All Bonanzas including A-36 Bonanza Beechcraft Model share an unusual feature: the yoke and rudder pedals are interconnected by a system of flexible bungees which assist in keeping the airplane in coordinated flight during turns. The bungee system allows the pilot to make coordinated turns using the yoke alone, or with minimal rudder input, during cruise flight. The twin-engine variant of the Bonanza is called the Baron, whereas the Twin Bonanza is a different design and not based on the original single-engine Bonanza fuselage. The A-36 Bonanza Beech Model has an improved deluxe interior, a new fuel system, higher take-off weight, from 1985 fitted with a Continental IO-550-BB engine and re-designed instrument panel and controls, 2128 built and it is modified with the Tradewind Turbine's turboprop conversion."

Hawker 400XP 1/48 Scale Model KBJ400TR by Toys & Models

Hawker 400XP 1/48 Scale Model KBJ400TR by Toys & Models

"The Beechjet400 or the Hawker 400, designed by Raytheon's Beech Aircraft Company subsidiary, now part of Hawker Beechcraft, is a small twin-engine corporate aircraft. Deliveries of the Beechjet began in June 1986, with low rate production continuing until that model was replaced by the Model 400A, which was delivered from November 1990. The Beechjet 400A integrated a quantity of developments over its predecessor. A higher max takeoff weight and superior operating ceiling enhanced performance, while repositioning the rear fuselage fuel tank enlarged cabin volume. The flight deck features Collins Pro Line 4 EFIS with three colour displays - two primary flight displays (PFD) and a multifunction display (MFD) with a second MFD optional. The 400A incorporates the added measures of strength and reliability that lead to the durability, dispatch reliability and low life-cycle costs that prompted the United States Air Force to select the 400A as the T-1A Jayhawk trainer for pilots. With its advanced avionics systems, elegant crafted interior and high efficiency environmental, the Beechjet 400A has remained the light jet of choice for those who embrace refined cabin accommodations and seek superior engineering. The Raytheon Hawker 400XP is the fastest light jet business jet of choice in the light-jet market. Powered by fuel-efficient Pratt & Whitney Canada engines, its innovative design includes a well-equipped galley, four-place center-club seating and the largest cabin of any comparable aircraft. "

Concorde British Airways 1/100 Scale Model KBSSTB2TR by Toys & Models

Concorde British Airways 1/100 Scale Model KBSSTB2TR by Toys & Models

"The Aérospatiale-BAC Concorde supersonic transport (SST) was the more successful of the only two supersonic passenger airliners to have ever operated commercially (the Tupolev Tu-144 being the other). First flown in 1969, its service commenced in 1976 and continued for 27 years. It flew regular transatlantic flights from London Heathrow (British Airways) and Paris Charles de Gaulle (Air France) to New York JFK and Washington Dulles, flying these routes at record speeds, in under half the time of other airliners. It also set many other records, including the official FAI “Westbound Around The World” and “Eastbound Around the World” world air speed records. British Airways (BA) is the largest airline of the United Kingdom and one of the largest in Europe. It was one of only two operators of the Concorde supersonic airliner (the other being the state-owned Air France), with a daily service between Heathrow and New York JFK. BA used the aircraft to win business customers, guaranteeing a certain number of Concorde upgrades in return for corporate accounts with the airline, a key factor in winning business from transatlantic competitors. Concorde made large operating profits for British Airways for much of its service life. British Airways, simultaneously with Air France, inaugurated the world's first supersonic passenger service with Concorde in January 1976. While commercial jets take seven hours to fly from New York to Paris, the average supersonic flight time on the transatlantic routes was just under 3.5 hours. In transatlantic flight, Concorde travelled more than twice as fast as other aircraft, making them appear to be flying backwards. Up to 2003, Air France and British Airways continued to operate the New York services daily. "

Cessna Model 172 Skyhawk Modern 1/32 Scale Model KC172TR Toys & Models

"The Cessna 172 Skyhawk is a four-seat, single engine, high-wing airplane. In the late 1960s, Cessna re-engined its already highly successful 172 four seater with the four cylinder Lycoming O-320. These o-320 powered models were the most successful to bear the 172 model number (and the Skyhawk name for the Deluxe option), as they were in production during GA's golden years, the 1970s. Higher performance 172s include the R172 Hawk XP, Continental lO-360 and the 135kW Lycoming O-360 powered, retractable undercarriage 172RG Cutlass. The 172 was also produced under license by Reims in France as the F172 and FR172 The Cessna 172, considering its longevity and popularity, is the most successful mass produced light aircraft in history. The first production models were delivered in 1956 and they are still in production as of 2007; more than 43,000 have been built. The Cessna 172 started life as a tricycle landing gear upgrade from the taildragger Cessna 170 and the early 172 were similar in appearance to the 170, with the same straight aft fuselage and tall gear legs, although the 172 had a straight vertical tail while the 170 had a rounded fin and rudder. Cessna 172's first flight was on November 1955. It became an overnight sales success and over 1,400 were built in 1956. More Cessna 172s have been built than any other aircraft and probably, Cessna is the most popular flight training aircraft in the world"

Cessna 206 Stationair 1/32 Scale Model KC206TR by Toys & Models

"The Cessna 206 Stationair is a six-seat single-engine general aviation aircraft with fixed landing gear used in commercial air service and for personal use. It is also used for aerial photography, skydiving and other utility purposes. Originally developed from the popular retractable-gear Cessna 210, the 206 has a powerful engine, rugged construction and a large cabin that has made it a popular bush plane. Cessna describes it as “the sport utility vehicle of the air”. It is supported by an active aircraft type club, the Cessna Pilots Association. The 206 was introduced in 1964 and built until 1986, when Cessna halted production of its single-engine product. It was reintroduced in 1998 and remains in production in 2007. There are many sub-variants, and the total number produced between 1964 and 2004 was 6,581 aircraft. The original 1964 model was the U206. The “U” designation indicated “utility” and this aircraft was equipped with a pilot side door and large clamshell rear door serving the back two rows of seats, allowing easy loading of oversized cargo. From 1964 to 1969, it was known as the “Super Wagon”. From 1970 it was named the “Stationair”, a contraction of “Station Wagon of the Air”. Production of the U206 was halted in 1986 was halted when Cessna stopped manufacturing all piston engine aircraft. A total of 5,208 U206s had been manufactured. "

"The Boeing 757 is a medium-range, transcontinental commercial airplane manufactured by Boeing Commercial Airplanes and was designed for Eastern Airlines and British Airways to replace the Boeing 727. The 757 was originally designated as the 7N7. It has transatlantic range and was one of the earliest ETOPS rated airliners. The 757 utilizes many of the same components as the wide body 767, aircrews and maintenance personnel can quickly be cross-trained from one type to another. 757 has the same fuselage diameter as the previous 707, 727 and 737. The 757 was the first Boeing airliner launched with non-US engines, Rolls-Royce RB211-535 but another option was later offered, the Pratt & Whitney PW2000. The 757-200 is the definitive version of 757 and forms the majority of 757. It was manufactured in freighter and passenger-freight combi versions. In the late 1990's, some 757-200 airliners were converted to freighters. Majority of 757-200s are found in domestic service with U.S. carriers. In the mid-90's, sales of the 757 went down dramatically."

B767-400 Delta 1/100 Scale Model KB7674DTR by Toys & Models

B767-400 Delta 1/100 Scale Model KB7674DTR by Toys & Models

"B767-400 Delta Boeing is a stretched development of the popular 767-300ER, designed to replace early A300, A310 and 767 twins used on transcontinental services and DC-10-30s and L-1011 trijets used for intercontinental work. It competes with the A330-200. Compared to the 767-300, the 767-400ER's wing features 2.34m (7ft 8in) long raked wingtips which improve aerodynamic efficiency. Winglets were originally considered but the wingtip extensions proved more efficient. The wing is actually made from increased gauge aluminum with thicker spars. The B767-400 Delta Boeing features a 777 style advanced flight deck with six color multifunction displays, which can present information in the same format as earlier 767s, allowing a common type certificate. The all new passenger interior is similar to that in the 777. Other features include common engines with the 767-300, a new APU, new tailskid and increased weights. The 767 sold very well in from late 1980s to the late 1990s, with a decrease during the recession in the early 1990s. After strong sales in 1997, sales have declined significantly, due to the economic recession of the early 2000s, increased competition from Airbus, and the recent emergence of a direct replacement program, the Boeing 787. Boeing has kept the line open due to KC-767 tanker program, which use the 767 airframe. The Boeing 767-400 Delta Boeing is the final extended variant that was launched in 1997 on an order for Delta Air Lines and Continental Airlines to replace their aging Lockheed L-1011 and McDonnell Douglas DC-10 fleets. Orders were also placed by Kenya Airways and ILFC but these were eventually canceled. It was again stretched 21.1 ft for a total of 201.4 ft. It also saw a wingspan increase of 14.3 feet over the previous two variants and is the only 767 variant to also feature ""raked"" wingtips, which increase fuel efficiency. It was introduced into service in 2000."

B777-200 Continental 1/200 Scale Model KB7772CATR by Toys & Models

"The Boeing 777 is a long-range, wide-body, twin-engine airliner built by Boeing Commercial Airplanes. Commonly referred to as the Triple Seven, it is the world's largest twinjet and can carry 283 to 368 passengers in a three-class configuration. The 777 was originally conceived as a stretched 767, but Boeing instead adopted an all new design. Distinguishing features include the six wheels on each main landing gear, its circular fuselage cross section, the largest diameter turbofan engines of any aircraft, the pronounced “neck” aft of the cockpit, and the blade-like tail cone. The 777-200, launched in October 1990, was offered in two versions, the basic 777-200 (initially A-Market) and the increased weight longer range 777-200IGW (Increased Gross Weight, initially B-Market). The IGW has since been redesignated 777-200ER. The 777-200 first flew on June 12, 1994, with FAA and JAA certification awarded on April 19, 1995. The first customer delivery was to United Airlines in May 1995. The first 777-200 built was used by Boeing's non-destructive testing (NDT) campaign in 1994 and 1995, and provided valuable data for the -200ER and -300 programs. The 777-200 is available with a maximum take-off weight from 505,000 to 545,000 pounds and range capability between 3,780 and 5,235 nautical miles. As of August 2007, a total of 84 aircraft were in service. Our Boeing 777-200 Continental scale model may not be the actual aircraft, but it certainly comes close and is fit to be displayed in a museum. Handcrafted with great care, each part undergoes priming and sanding several times before being hand-painted by gifted artists. Every detail, no matter how big or small, is duplicated with great accuracy and protected by a final coat of clear lacquer. The Boeing 777-200 Continental handmade model is meant to be shown off and comes with a handsome mahogany-based chrome stand. "

"The Boeing 777 is a long range, wide-body twin-engine airliner manufactured by Boeing Commercial Airplanes. The world's largest twinjet and commonly referred to as the ""Triple Seven"", the aircraft can carry between 283 and 368 passengers in a three-class configuration and has a range from 5,235 to 9,380 nautical miles (9,695 to 17,370 km). Distinguishing features of the 777 include the six wheels on each main landing gear, its circular fuselage cross section, the largest diameter turbofan engines of any aircraft, and the blade-like end to the tail cone. The Boeing 777 is produced in two fuselage lengths. The original 777-200 model entered service in 1995, and the stretched 777-300, which is 33.3 ft (10.1 m) longer, was introduced in 1998. The longer range 777-200LR and 777-300ER variants entered service in 2006 and 2004, respectively, while a freighter version, the 777F, first flew in 2008. Both long range 777 models and the 777F are equipped with wingtip extensions of 12.8 ft (3.9 m) and raked wingtips. The 777-200LR is currently the world's longest range airliner, and holds the record for longest distance flown by an unrefuelled commercial airliner. Through the 2000s, the Boeing 777 has emerged as one of its manufacturer's best-selling models. As of October 2008, 56 customers have placed orders for 1,096 777s. Due to rising fuel costs, airlines have acquired the 777 as a comparatively fuel-efficient alternative to other widebody jets, and have increasingly used the aircraft on long-haul, transoceanic routes. Direct market competitors to the 777 are the Airbus A330-300, A340, and A350 XWB, which is currently under development The stretched A-market 777-300 (773A) was designed as a replacement for 747-100s and -200s. Compared to the older 747s, the stretched 777 has comparable passenger capacity and range, and was designed to burns one third less fuel and have 40% lower maintenance costs. The 777-300 features a 33 ft 3 in (10.1 m) fuselage stretch over the baseline 777-200, allowing seating for up to 550 passengers in a single class high density configuration. The 777-300 is also 29,000 pounds (13 tonnes) heavier, is equipped with a tailskid, and includes ground maneuvering cameras mounted on the horizontal tail and underneath the forward fuselage to aid pilots during taxi due to the aircraft's length. The typical operating range with 368 three-class passengers is 6,015 nautical miles (11,135 km). The 777-300 is powered by the following engines: 90,000 lbf (400 kN) PW4090 turbofans, 92,000 lbf (409 kN) Trent 892 or GE90-92Bs, or 98,000 lbf (436 kN) PW-4098s. Since the debut of the 777-300, a total of 60 -300s have been delivered to eight different customers, and all were in airline service as of August 2008. However, following the introduction of the longer range -300ER in 2004, all operators have selected the ER version of the -300 model. The 777-300 has no direct Airbus rival, but the A340-600 is offered in competition."

It carries between 305 and 550 passengers and has a range from 5,600 to 8,870 nautical miles (10,400 to 16,400 km). The first flight of the 777 was on June 12 1994. Distinguishing features of the 777 include the set of six wheels on each main landing gear, its perfectly circular fuselage cross section, and the blade-like rear tail cone. The Boeing 777 was first introduced on June 7 1995 with United Airlines. The 777-200 (772A) was the initial A-market model. The first customer delivery was to United Airlines (FAA: N777UA) in May 1995. It is available with a maximum take-off weight (MTOW) from 505,000 to 545,000 pounds (229 to 247 tones) and range capability between 3,780 and 5,235 nautical miles (7,000 to 9,695 km). The 777 was the first commercial aircraft to be designed 100% by computer. No paper drawings were ever produced; everything was created on a 3D CAD software system known as CATIA. This allowed a virtual 777 to be assembled in cyberspace, allowing engineers to examine for interferences, and to test if the many thousands of parts would fit together properly before costly physical prototypes were manufactured. The Boeing 777 currently is available in six models: 777-200, 777-200ER (extended range), 777 200LR (longer-range), 777-300 and the 777-300ER, and the 777 Freighter. "

"The BAE Jetstream 31 is a small twin turboprop airliner, with a pressurised fuselage, originally designed to meet the requirements of the United States feederliner and regional airline market. Scottish Aviation formed the company Jetstream Aircraft to produce the aircraft. After Scottish Aviation went bankrupt and was merged into British Aerospace in 1978, BAe decided the design was worth further development, and started work on a “Mark 3” Jetstream. The result was the Jetstream 31, which first flew on March 28, 1980. The new version proved to be popular and several hundred 31s were built during the 1980s. In August 2006 a total of 158 BAe Jetstream 31 and 32 aircraft remain in airline service. The BAe Jetstream 31 has a crew of two and has a seating capacity of 19 passengers. It has a maximum speed of 488 km/h and a range of 1,260 km. It incorporates two Garrett TPE331-10UG turboprop with 701 kW each. G-17 Staggerwing 1/32 Scale Model KBC17T by Toys & Models

G-17 Staggerwing 1/32 Scale Model KBC17T by Toys & Models

"The Beechcraft Model 17 was the first aircraft produced by Beech Aircraft. A biplane with an atypical backward stagger (the upper wing inversely staggered behind the lower), it was a gamble for the company. Produced during the Great Depression, the expensive aircraft was designed as a high speed, comfortable business plane. The aircraft is more popularly known as the Staggerwing and first flew on November 4, 1932. During its time, it was considered to be the premier executive aircraft, setting the standard for private passenger airplanes for many years to come. The Staggerwing's unusual wing configuration and unique shape resulted in a design that maximized the pilot's visibility while minimizing the aircraft's tendency to stall. Its retractable conventional landing gear, which was uncommon at that time, coupled with streamlining, light weight and radial engines helped it perform significantly better than other biplane designs. The luxurious cabin could hold up to five passengers. Sales started slowly at first, and the Staggerwing's high price tag warded off any potential buyers. Only 18 aircraft were sold during the first year of production. However, the handbuilt Staggerwing gradually captured a substantial share of the passenger aircraft market. By the start of World War II, more than 424 planes had been sold. The Staggerwing's speed made it a favorite of air racers during the 1930s. An early version of the Model 17 won the 1933 Texaco Trophy Race. In 1935, Captain H. L. Farquhar, a British diplomat, successfully flew around the world in a Model B17R. Aviator Jackie Cochran set a women's speed record of 203.9 mph and an altitude record of 30,000 feet while flying a Staggerwing. The aircraft also performed well in the Bendix race between 1936 and 1938. As World War II approached, a number of Staggerwings saw service in various countries. The Second Spanish Republic used the aircraft as bombers during the Spanish Civil War. China used it as ambulance planes in the fight against Imperial Japan. On October 2, 1941, Beech delivered a special camouflaged plane to Prince Bernhard of Lippe-Biesterfeld who used it for refugee work while he was in exile in London. "

"The Boeing 737 is a popular short-to-medium range commercial passenger jet aircraft. It has been continuously manufactured by Boeing Commercial Airplanes since 1967. More commonly known to the Boeing engineers as ""FLUF"", being an acronym for ""Fat Little Ugly Fella"", although the industry affectionately called it the ""Baby Boeing"". The 737-800, together with the 737-900 are among the largest members of the strong selling 737 family. The 737-800 was launched on September 5, 1994. The 737-800 has a flight crew of two. The 737-800 has a typical two class seating for 162 with 12 first class passengers at four abreast. It incorporates two CFM56-7B27s on high gross weight versions. By October 2002, there were 1,028 737-800s ordered with deliveries of 664."

B737-800 Delta 1/100 Scale Model KB7378DTR by Toys & Models

B737-800 Delta 1/100 Scale Model KB7378DTR by Toys & Models

"The Boeing 737 is a short to medium range, single aisle, narrow body jet airliner. With over 7,000 ordered and over 5,000 delivered, it is the most ordered and produced commercial passenger jet of all time. Born out of Boeing's need to introduce a competitor in the short-range, small capacity jetliner market, it has been continuously manufactured since 1967. It is now so widely used that at any given time, there are over 1,250 airborne worldwide. On average, a 737 takes off or lands every five seconds somewhere around the world. Boeing was far behind its competitors when the 737 was launched, as rival aircraft were already into flight certification. To speed up the development time, Boeing reused 60 percent of the structure and systems of the existing 707, most notably the fuselage cross section. The 737-800 was a stretched version of the 737-700. It filled the gap left by Boeing's discontinuation of the McDonnell Douglas MD-80 and MD-90 after the two company's merger. Major United States airline Delta Air Lines has an all-Boeing fleet. It was one of the last major airlines to operate the original Boeing 737-200 models until the last aircraft retired in 2006. Its many Boeing 727s were completely replaced with Boeing 737-800s in 2003. Delta's Boeing 737-800 airplanes have an empty area in the rear cabin where seats are normally located. Not placing seats in this area results in a reduction of capacity to 150 seats, reducing the number of Federal Aviation Administration mandated flight attendants to three, as one flight attendant is required for every fifty passenger seats. This seat reduction was done after 9/11 to reduce costs, however, Delta has backtracked on this decision, and will increase the capacity of the 737-800 fleet to 160 passengers by using slimline seats. "The 747 family is one of the most popular family of aircraft and was the first wide-body commercial airliner produced. The 747-200 variantincorporates more powerful engines, higher takeoff weights (MTOW) and range than the 747-100. There were several 747-200 versions produced. Introduced in 1971, and further improved over successive years, the 747-200 has higher thrust and weight-lifting capability than the 747-100, allowing it to fly further. A sub-variant is unofficially called the 747-200M and is a ""combi"" aircraft that can carry both at the same time. Like the 100, many 200s have been given a new lease on life as freight aircraft. There's a total of 393 747-200 versions built, when production ended in 1991. Currently, there are still many 747-200s still in operation, although most large carriers have retired the 747-200s from their fleets and were sold to smaller operators. Following the September 11th attacks, large carriers have speeded up fleet retirement and some 747-200s were either scrapped or turned into freighters. "

"The Boeing 747-400 is the latest, longest ranging, most advanced and best-selling model of the 747 family. It is the second largest commercial airliner after the Airbus A380. It was announced by Boeing Commercial Airplanes in October 1985, rolled out in January 1988 and first flew on April 29, 1988. Production of the 747-400 passenger version officially ended on March 15, 2007. The last to order the -400 was China Airlines in November 2002, with the last passenger 747-400 constructed in 2005 and delivered in April of that year. It was the 1358th aircraft produced. The 747-400 is set to be replaced by the Boeing 747-8 in 2009. United Airlines (UA) is one of the only two US airlines that still operate the 416-passenger 747-400. On December 9, 2004, UA made history when Flight 869, a 747-400, landed at Ho Chi Minh City, Vietnam. The scheduled flight from San Francisco via Hong Kong was the first by a US airline since the end of the Vietnam War, when Pan Am halted service shortly before the fall of Saigon. United offers in-flight entertainment on all its mainline aircraft. UnitedFirst Suite is offered on the 747-400, which features a 78-inch pitch flat-bed seat that reclines to 180 degrees. On board, passengers can enjoy pre-takeoff beverages, a five course meal, and a personal entertainment unit featuring nine channels of video as well as an additional fourteen feature film titles. Passengers also have access to personal phones and laptop power ports, as well as comfortable pillows and duvets. UnitedEconomy International is also available on the 747-400. Seats range from 17 to 18 inches wide, and have 31 inches of pitch. The in-flight entertainment system features nine channels of entertainment, along with audio channels. Shortly after takeoff, passengers are served a beverage with cocktail snacks. The main meal consists of a salad, an appetizer, a choice of hot entrées and dessert. On longer flights, United also offers a light pre-arrival meal. "

"The 747-400 is an improved model with increased range. It has wing-tip extensions of 6 ft (1.8 m), winglets of 6 ft (1.8 m), which improve the 747-400's fuel efficiency by 4% compared to previous 747 versions. It has a new glass cockpit designed for a flight crew of two instead of three. The use of electronics reduced the number of dials, gauges and knobs from 971 to 365. It has tail fuel tanks, revised engines and a new interior. The longer range was used by some airlines to bypass traditional fuel stops, such as Anchorage. The -400 was offered in passenger (400), freighter (400F), combi (400C), domestic (400D), extended range passenger (400ER) and extended range freighter (400ERF) versions. The freighter version does not have an extended upper deck. The 747-400D was built for short range operations and does not include winglets, but these can be retrofitted. The passenger version first entered service in February 1989 with Northwest Airlines on the Minneapolis to Phoenix route. The combi version entered service in September 1989 with KLM. The freighter version entered service in November 1993 with Cargolux. The 747-400ERF entered service in October 2002 and the 747-400ER entered service the following month with Qantas, the only airline ever to order the passenger version. Some of the last built Boeing 747-400s were delivered with Dreamliner livery along with the modern interior from the Boeing 777. The last passenger version of the 747-400 was delivered in April 2005. Boeing announced in March 2007 that it had no plans to produce further passenger versions of the -400. However, orders for 36 -400F and -400ERF freighters were already in place at the time of the announcement. As of October 2008, a total of 685 of the 747-400 series aircraft had been delivered. At various times, the largest 747-400 operator has been Singapore Airlines, Japan Airlines, and British Airways. "

"The Boeing 757-200 is a member of the popular 757/767 family of medium-sized airplanes. The 757-200 is a twin-engine short-to-medium-range jetliner incorporating advanced technology for exceptional fuel efficiency, low noise levels, increased passenger comfort and top operating performance. The 757 offers great versatility by reducing airport congestion. In January 13, 1982, the first 757-200 rolled out of the Boeing Renton, Washington plant. Its maiden flight was on February 19, 1982. The 757-200 underwent 1,380 hours of flight testing over a ten month period for certification by the U.S. Federal Aviation Administration. The 757-200 was delivered on December 22, 1982 to launch customer Eastern Airlines. The aircraft was placed into service on January 1, 1983. On January 14, 1983, the 757-200 was certified to fly in the United Kingdom by the British Civil Aviation Authority. The 757-200 version forms the majority of 757s sold. Boeing positioned the plane above the 737 and as an eventual replacement for the 727. This variant can carry up to a 228 passengers in a single class; however, it can carry a maximum of 234 passengers with a seat pitch of 29"". The 757-200 and twin-aisle 767 were developed concurrently, both having the same technological advancements in propulsion, aerodynamics, avionics and materials. That's why many airline operators operate both 757 and 767 airplanes. The 757-200's high-bypass-ratio engines combined with the wing design making it the quietest, most fuel-efficient jetliners in the world. The 757-200 is available in two different door configurations. The 757-200's interior became standard on all narrowbody Boeing aircraft. The 757's wing is less swept and is thicker through the center than earlier aircraft, permitting a longer span. The 757-200 flight deck pioneered the use of digital electronics and advanced displays offering increased reliability and advanced features compared to older electro-mechanical instruments. "

"Continental Airline is the fourth-largest airline in the United States based in Houston, Texas. Continental Airline is considered the eighth-largest in the world by revenue passenger miles. The 757 is the only type of aircraft which is being operated by all six U.S. ""legacy"" airlines and it includes the Continental Airlines. The B757 is an American twin-engine short to medium range commercial passenger aircraft manufactured by Boeing Commercial Airplanes. The 757 was the first Boeing airliner launched with engines produced outside the U.S., with early customers selecting the Rolls-Royce RB211. More than 1,030 of the 757s are still in service. The B757-200 variant of the B757, first flew on February 19 1982, can carry 228 passengers in a single class. The -200 version, a member of the popular 757/767 family of medium-sized airplanes, is a twin-engine short-to-medium-range jetliner incorporating advanced technology for exceptional fuel efficiency, low noise levels, increased passenger comfort and top operating performance. The 757-200 is the definitive version and forms the majority of the 757. The 757-200 version is shorter and has a longer operating range than the 757-300. The -200 was available in two different door configurations. One version used three standard doors per side with an additional, smaller door aft of the wing on each side for emergency evacuations. All eight door locations are equipped with inflatable evacuation slides. The alternate version is equipped with three standard doors per side (two towards the front and one at the aft of the cabin) with two ""plug-type"" overwing exits per side replacing the smaller door aft of the wing. Presidential challenger John Kerry used a chartered 757-200, nicknamed ""Freedom Bird"" during the 2004 U.S. presidential campaign. The -200 model has also been manufactured in freighter (757-200F) and passenger-freight combi (757-200M) versions. In the late 1990's, some of the airliners 757-200s were converted to freighters. "

"B737-900 Boeing's Next Generation 737-800 and 737-900 are the largest members of the strong selling 737 family. Alaska Airlines launched the B737-900 in 1997 and accepted delivery in 2000. Because the -900 retains the same exit configuration of the -800, seating capacity is limited to 177 seats in two classes, or 189 in a single-class layout. The 737-900 also retains the MTOW and fuel capacity of the -800, trading range for payload. The B737-900 is the newest addition and the largest variant of the Boeing 737 line and was introduced to meet the range and passenger capacity of the discontinued 757-200 and to directly compete with the Airbus A321. An additional pair of exit doors and a flat rear pressure bulkhead increase seating capacity to 180 passengers in a 2-class configuration or 215 passengers in a single-class layout. Additional fuel capacity and standard winglets improve range to that of other 737NG variants. The first B737-900 was rolled out of the Renton, Washington factory on August 8, 2006 for its launch customer, Lion Air. Then on April 27, 2007, Boeing delivered the first B737-900 to Lion Air. It first flew in 1963 and for over a decade, Boeing 727 was considered the most produced commercial jet airliner in the world. 1,831 Boeing 727s were delivered. The Boeing 727's sales record for the most jets bought in history was broken in the early 1990s by the Boeing 737. In August 2006, a total of 127 Boeing 727-100 aircraft and 493 Boeing 727-200 aircraft were in airline service. The Boeing 727-200 is a stretched version of the 727-100. The -200 is 20 feet longer (153 feet, 2 inches) than the -100 (133 feet, 2 inches). A ten foot ""plug"" was added in front of the wings and another ten foot ""plug"" was added behind them. The wing span and height remain the same on both the -100 and -200 (108 feet and 34 feet, respectively). The gross weight was increased from 169,000 to 209,500 pounds. The dorsal intake of the number 2 engine was also redesigned to be round in shape, as opposed to oval as it was on the 100 series. At the turn of the 21st century, the 727 was still in service with a few airline fleets. However, because in the meantime the U.S. FAA and the ICAO had changed their requirements for overwater operations, most major airlines had already begun to switch to twinjets, aircraft with only two engines, which are more fuel-efficient and quieter than the notoriously loud three-engined 727. Also, the 727 was one of the last airliners in service to have a three-person flight crew, including a flight engineer, a crewmember whose job is performed by computerized systems on newer planes. The Boeing 727 proved very successful with airlines worldwide partly because of its capability to use smaller runways while still flying medium range routes. Thus, Boeing 727 effectively allowed airlines to attract passengers from cities with large populations but smaller airports to worldwide tourist destinations."

The ATR-42 also doesn't have Auxiliary Power Unit (APU), but it has a propeller brake, allowing the turbine to run and provide air power to the aircraft without the propeller spinning. Thus it eliminates the need for added weight and expense of an APU. the engines are periodically switched during maintenance to ensure equal wear. "

B-247 United 1/48 Scale Model KB247UATE by Toys & Models

B-247 United 1/48 Scale Model KB247UATE by Toys & Models

"The revolutionary Boeing 247, developed in 1933, was an all-metal, twin engine airplane and the first modern passenger airliner. It had a gyro panel for instrument flying, an autopilot, pneumatically operated de-icing equipment, a variable-pitch propeller and retractable landing gear. It also featured thick upholstered chairs, an insulated cabin, a lavatory and individual overhead lighting. The phenomenon of the Model 247 caught the attention of America's young airline companies. When its commitment to United prevented Boeing from filling orders fast enough, Transcontinental and Western Air (TWA) turned to Douglas. Douglas offered to build something similar to the Boeing 247, only faster and larger. TWA quickly accepted the proposal. The Douglas DC-1 which was eventually refined as the legendary DC-3, immediately attracted new customers. Thus, making the 247 obsolete less than a year after its first flight. Seventy-five 247s were built. Boeing Air Transport flew 60 247s. United Aircraft Corporation flew 10 and the rest went to Deutsche Lufthansa and a private owner in China. The Boeing 247s remained in airline service until World War II, when several were converted into C-73 transports and trainers. Some were still flying along with the Douglas DC-2 that supplanted it, the Model 247 ushered in the age of speed, reliability, safety and comfort in air travel."

B-314 Dixie Clipper PAA 1/100 Scale Model KB314T by Toys & Models

B-314 Dixie Clipper PAA 1/100 Scale Model KB314T by Toys & Models

"The Boeing 314 ""Clipper"" is a long-range flying boat produced between 1938 and 1941 by the Boeing Airline Company. It is one of the largest aircraft at that time using the massive wing of earlier XB-15 bomber prototype. The Boeing 314 uses a series of heavy ribs and spars, creating a strong fuselage and cantilevered wing. It incorporates sponsons into the hull structure. The Pan Am Clippers were built for luxury, a necessity given the long duration of transoceanic flights. Pan American World Airways signed a contract for six Boeing 314 on July 21, 1936. The first 314, the Honolulu Clipper, entered service in January 1939. Pacific Clipper was enroute to New Zealand during the outbreak of war in the Pacific. In June 24, 1939, the Yankee Clipper had flown across the Atlantic on a route from Southampton to New York with intermediate stops at Foynes, Ireland, Botwood, Newfoundland and Shediac, New Brunswick. The Boeing 314 Dixie Clipper is another aircraft operated by Pan Am. It started its transatlantic passenger service in 1939 and was later sold to World Airways. It was scrapped on 1950. "

Boeing 367-80 1/100 Scale Model KB367T by Toys & Models

Boeing 367-80 1/100 Scale Model KB367T by Toys & Models

"The Boeing 367-80, or ""Dash 80"" as it was called within Boeing, was a concept jet transport built to demonstrate that high speed jet transport was no longer the sole preserve of military aircraft. Boeing 367-80 was considered to be the prototype for both the Boeing 707 airliner and the C-135 series aircraft (including the best known variant, the KC-135 air tanker used by the United States Air Force), the Boeing 367-80 was built in less than two years from project launch in 1952 to rollout on May 14, 1954 for a cost of US$16 million. This was at the time an enormous risk for the Boeing Company, since they had no committed customers for the project. By early 1952 the designs were complete, and on April 1952, the Boeing board approved the program to build the jet. Construction of the Boeing 367-80 took place at Boeing's Renton, Washington plant, but as a prototype there was no production line and most of the parts were custom built. The plane's interior was not fitted with an airline cabin; rather it consisted of a basic plywood lining that was used to house the test instrumentation required for the flight test program. In addition to the flight testing program, Boeing also used the Boeing 367-80 to provide demonstration flights to airline executives and other key industry figures."
